What is this tool?
Take-home pay is your gross salary minus the deductions taken out through the tax system: resident income tax, the 2% Medicare levy, and any compulsory HECS-HELP repayment. The Super Guarantee is paid by your employer on top of your salary and is not deducted from your pay.How it works
Enter your gross annual income. Toggle the Medicare levy and HECS-HELP options to match your situation. The tool shows the income tax, each deduction and your net take-home pay. What is taken out
Your employer withholds tax and repayments through the PAYG system. This tool models the three main deductions: resident income tax, the 2% Medicare levy, and any compulsory HECS-HELP repayment. The Super Guarantee is separate and is not deducted from your pay.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is super deducted from my pay?
No. The Super Guarantee is an employer contribution paid on top of your salary, so it is not part of the take-home calculation.
Why use gross income for HECS?
This tool uses your gross income as the repayment income for a quick estimate. Your actual repayment income may include extra items, so check your income statement.
Does this include tax offsets?
No. The Low Income Tax Offset and other offsets are not included, so low incomes may pay less tax than shown here.

Tips & Advice
This is a pre-tax estimate. Your employer withholds through PAYG; the year-end assessment may differ once offsets and deductions are applied.Related Tools

Limitations
Uses the 2026-27 resident tax scales, the 2% Medicare levy and the current HELP repayment schedule, assuming an Australian resident for tax purposes with no salary packaging, no deductions and no offsets beyond the low income tax offset. The Super Guarantee is shown separately and is not part of take-home pay. Your employer’s withholding may differ from these figures.
